How is the world responding to the challenges it faces — from climate change to economic instability? And where does the Western Balkans fit in? In an interview for Sinteza on Newsmax Balkans TV, Biljana Braithwaite from Sustineri Partners spoke about what sustainability means in practice, why it’s gaining ground in the business world, and whether the region can take a more united approach.
Sustainability, she argues, is no longer just a concern for global corporations or large economies. “It’s about how decisions are made, how resources are managed, and how people are included,” Braithwaite said. In that sense, it’s directly relevant to governments, businesses, and communities across the Western Balkans.
She pointed to the growing importance of trust — both between institutions and citizens, and across borders in the region. Rebuilding that trust, she said, is essential for unlocking investment, encouraging innovation, and addressing shared challenges more effectively.
