A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Montenegro and Sustineri Partners was signed today in Podgorica, formally establishing cooperation in the creation of the Energy Forum within the Adria Future Summit 2026, which will be held from 22 to 24 April 2026 in Porto Montenegro. The Adria Future Summit is organised by Sustineri Partners, in partnership with the Government of Montenegro and under the patronage of the President of Montenegro. As the largest regional platform of its kind, the Summit brings together leaders from European institutions, international financial organisations, global companies and governments, with a mandate to shape the agendas of investment, innovation and sustainable development in South-Eastern Europe.
Energy topics have been among the most prominent elements of the programme at previous editions of the Summit. Their growing importance and the interest of international partners and investors have shown that the energy agenda deserves a dedicated strategic platform. On this basis, the new Energy Forum is being established as a central venue for regional dialogue on energy transition, sustainable development and European policies. By signing the Memorandum, the Ministry of Energy and Mining becomes an institutional partner and co-founder of the Forum, with a key role in defining the programme, strategically directing thematic areas, and connecting relevant national and international stakeholders.
The Minister of Energy and Mining, Admir Šahmanović, stated: “The Adria Future Summit, thanks to the Sustineri Partners team, has already built a reputation as a regional platform of exceptional quality and international visibility. We are pleased that the Ministry is now formally joining this partnership, with the aim of further strengthening regional dialogue, opening new investment opportunities and promoting Montenegro’s strategic projects. With this step, we are elevating our cooperation to a new level and jointly building a stronger Forum on energy transition and sustainable development.”
On behalf of Sustineri Partners, Biljana Braithwaite added: “Energy transition today means much more than renewable sources. It encompasses a just transition, infrastructure for new industries, data centres and AI ecosystems, security of supply, as well as modern regulations that make investment predictable. The Energy Forum will be a space where this range of topics is connected into a common vision: a sustainable, competitive and technologically prepared Adria region.”
The Adria Future Summit 2026 will be held in the year marking the 20th anniversary of Montenegro’s independence, but also at a decisive moment for European integration, as Montenegro enters the final phase of negotiations, opens new investment opportunities and takes on key regulatory obligations for alignment with the EU. The Memorandum will be presented throughout the preparations for the Summit, as well as within national and international events dedicated to energy, investment and sustainable development.
